Horoscopes: what’s your luck like in October 2026, the Earth Dog month?

October, the ninth solar month in the Chinese calendar, is the month of the Earth Dog. In traditional Chinese culture, the energy of the Dog represents loyalty and prosperity. In fact, people traditionally believed that the arrival of a stray dog to one’s house meant the arrival of wealth. Those with the Dog sign are genuine, reliable and forthright in their dealings with others. They value consistency and care, and are dependable. The Dog is also associated with honesty, courage and...

Bangkok’s culinary stars fade amid rising costs, tighter budgets and fewer tourists

Earlier this year, Bangkok’s F&B scene pulled off a coup. At Asia’s 50 Best Bars awards in Macau, eight venues from Asia’s “City of Angels” crowded the list – rankings historically dominated by Hong Kong and Singapore – with four more in the 51-100 tier. The Hong Kong siblings who bond over fitness reveal why endurance runs in this family

In the punishing world of Hong Kong endurance sports, few events command as much respect as the Hong Kong Four Trails Ultra Challenge (HK4TUC), a gruelling 298km (185-mile) test across the city’s major trail networks. While 51-year-old ultra-runner and coach Elliot Froidevaux has conquered the challenge twice, his journey from a 100kg (220lbs) heavy smoker to elite trail runner was no solo effort. Standing next to the Swiss-born, Hong Kong-raised Froidevaux is his older sister, Joanne Nixon, a...
