NetworkNewsBreaks – Chemistree Technology Inc. (CSE: CHM) (OTCQB: CHMJF) Partners with NJ Medical Retail Cannabis License Applicant

Chemistree Technology Inc. (CSE: CHM) (OTCQB: CHMJF) this morning announced that its wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, American CHM Investments Inc., has entered a letter of intent to partner with Applied Cannabis Sciences of New Jersey (“ACS”), a New Jersey-based medical retail dispensary applicant in the state’s upcoming round of request for applications, which is anticipated in 2020. ACS’s leadership team combines seasoned professionals from the legal medicinal and adult use marijuana industry with over 50 years of collective experience and includes over 20 cultivation, processing and manufacturing licenses across four U.S. states (Washington, Oregon, California and Colorado).

“We are excited about partnering with ACS, a highly experienced group recognized in the medical and recreational cannabis space that bring a track record of innovation and success. The potential to expand Chemistree’s presence outside of California and Washington state and ultimately introduce our signature brand Sugarleaf to the large New Jersey consumer base by partnering with ACS is consistent with our growth strategy,” Chemistree President Karl Kottmeier said in the news release. “New Jersey is home to over nine million people currently being served by only 12 cannabis operators in its medical program. New Jersey is a logical place for Chemistree to expand into and bring the Sugarleaf brand to the New Jersey market. I would like to specifically thank Nico Escondido, our newest board member for the introduction to this exciting opportunity and I am impressed with the significant impact he is already clearly having on our Company.”

In a first, Bedouin women lead tours in Egypt's Sinai

Apr 19, 2019

ABU ZENIMA, Egypt — Amid a stunning vista of desert mountains, a Bedouin woman, Umm Yasser, paused to point out a local plant, and she began to explain how it was used in medicine to the group of foreign tourists she was guiding. Umm Yasser is breaking new ground among the deeply conservative Bedouin of Egypt's Sinai Peninsula. Women among the Bedouin almost never work outside the home, and even more rarely do they interact with outsiders. But Umm Yasser is one of four women from the community who for the first time are working as tour guides. "It is...

ADEN, Yemen — In the summer of 2017, a plane chartered by the United Nations idled on the tarmac at an airport in the Horn of Africa as officials waited for final clearance to deliver half a million doses of cholera vaccine to Yemen. Amid the country's ruinous war, the disease was spiraling out of control, with thousands of new cases reported each day. The green light for the plane to head to northern Yemen never came. The U.N. wasn't able to distribute cholera vaccines to Yemen until May 2018 and the outbreak ultimately produced more than 1 million suspected...

Yemeni officials: Blast in capital kills 13

Apr 19, 2019

SANAA, Yemen — A large explosion at a warehouse in Yemen's rebel-held capital on Sunday killed at least 13 people, including seven children, and wounded more than 100, local medical officials said. The Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, who seized control of the capital in 2014, said the Saudi-led coalition had targeted the warehouse with an airstrike. The coalition denied carrying out any strikes in the area. The state-run news agency in Aden, aligned with the internationally-recognized government, said the rebels stored weapons at the warehouse. The health officials said more than 110 people were wounded in the explosion, which damaged nearby...

Saudi Arabia arrests more activists, including 2 US citizens

Apr 19, 2019

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Saudi Arabia detained 12 people, including two dual U.S.-Saudi citizens, in a new round of arrests in the kingdom targeting individuals supportive of women's rights and those with ties to jailed activists, people with knowledge of the apprehensions said Friday. It marks the first sweep of arrests to target individuals perceived as critics of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman since the killing of writer Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul in October. The arrests come despite a global outcry over Khashoggi's grisly killing by Saudi agents in an operation directed by former top...
