Johnson Investment Counsel's Pandemic and Business Continuity Planning Enables Employees to Work Anywhere

Ensures "Seamless Experience" Between Work-From-Home Advisors and Clients With Integrated Collaboration, Communications and Virtual Workspaces From Evolve IP

WAYNE, Pa. - June 2, 2020 - PRLog -- Johnson Investment Counsel, one of the largest independent investment firms in the Midwest, and Evolve IP®, the world's leading provider of Work Anywhere™ cloud solutions, today announced that a successful business continuity and pandemic planning test in October of 2019 has enabled the firm's employees to seamlessly serve clients via remote work operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Johnson Investment Counsel provides and manages approximately $13 billion of investment plans, including wealth portfolios, mutual funds, 401(k), IRAs and more. During the 4th quarter of 2019 the company undertook an intense business continuity test to ensure that in the event of a pandemic its employees could all work at home with the same capabilities they had in the office. Additionally, the organization tested situations where key personnel were impacted by a virus and unable to work; forcing others to pick up their key internal functions and workload.

The test was nearly flawless, and while no one in the firm expected a situation like a pandemic to arise, they were confident that they could handle an emergency that forced everyone in the firm to work remotely. Fast forward to March of 2020 and like the majority of businesses around the world, the company was forced to close its doors temporarily. However, unlike most of those businesses, Johnson Investment Counsel could rely on the technologies and strategic plans it had tested months ago with Evolve IP, a global provider of analyst-acclaimed solutions that let employees work anywhere.

The key technologies leveraged by Johnson Investment Counsel employees while working from home include fully integrated:

  • Collaboration – Employees are able to share files and video conference with clients enabling advisors to maintain a personal presence. Internal conversations are enhanced with one-on-one and group chats, desktop sharing and meeting functions.
  • Communications / Voice Services – Calls made to employees' office phones are immediately re-routed to mobile or home phones and voice mails are made available in email.
  • Virtual Workspaces – Access to critical applications is provided via cloud desktops enabling advisors to respond quickly to investor demands and changes in the market. Key business services are made available on home PCs, tablets and other devices.

"These are some of the most challenging times our investors have ever been through and the need for consistent, reliable communication has been critical in maintaining confidence and calm," said Ryan Easter, Director of IT and Principal of Johnson Investment Counsel. "At the same time, our ability to execute quickly has never been more critical. Thanks to the business continuity and pandemic test we ran, and the technologies we have in place, it's been a seamless experience moving from our work offices to our home offices and we haven't missed a beat."

"First and foremost, we are happy that all of the employees of Johnson Investment Counsel are safe and healthy," said Guy Fardone, CEO and Founding Partner of Evolve IP. "Their proactive, strategic approach to enable employees to work anywhere has positioned them to successfully navigate these unprecedented times and also has set them up for growth when normal business resumes. We've spoken to hundreds of businesses and unfortunately, too many were caught flat-footed without a business continuity plan. We applaud Johnson Investment Counsel for their foresight and the fantastic execution of their work from home strategy and Evolve IP is glad to be helping them continue with their success."

Soleimani, a general who became Iran icon by targeting US

Jul 8, 2020

TEHRAN, Iran — For Iranians whose icons since the Islamic Revolution have been stern-faced clergy, Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani widely represented a figure of national resilience in the face of four decades of U.S. pressure. For the U.S. and Israel, he was a shadowy figure in command of Iran's proxy forces, responsible for fighters in Syria backing President Bashar Assad and for the deaths of American troops in Iraq. Solemani survived the horror of Iran’s long war in the 1980s with Iraq to take control of the Revolutionary Guard’s elite Quds Force, responsible for the Islamic Republic’s foreign campaigns. Relatively...

Muslim hajj pilgrims ascend Mount Arafat for day of worship

Jul 8, 2020

MOUNT ARAFAT, Saudi Arabia — More than 2 million Muslims are gathered at the sacred hill of Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia for an intense day of worship and reflection on what's considered the climax of the Islamic hajj pilgrimage. Some had tears streaming down their faces as the men, wearing simple white garments, and women raised their hands in worship on the slopes of the rocky hill. Many walked through the pre-dawn darkness early Saturday to the hill where the Prophet Muhammad delivered his final sermon some 1,400 years ago, calling for equality and unity among Muslims. One of...

Saudi changes allow women to travel without male consent

Jul 8, 2020

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Saudi Arabia published new laws early Friday that loosen restrictions on women by allowing any citizen to apply for a passport and travel freely, ending a long-standing guardianship policy that gave men control over women. The changes are a potential game-changer for Saudi women's rights in the kingdom. The legal system has long been criticized because it treated women as minors throughout their adult lives, requiring they have a man's consent to obtain a passport or travel abroad. Often a woman's male guardian is her father or husband, and in some cases a woman's own...

The Latest: UN chief calls for 'maximum restraint' in Gulf

Jul 8, 2020

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The Latest on the tensions between the United States and Iran (all times local): 10:45 p.m. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is again calling for "maximum restraint" in the Persian Gulf region and warning all parties that a new confrontation "would be a catastrophe." U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq reiterated the U.N. chief's plea to avoid any escalation when asked Thursday for Guterres' reaction to Britain saying Iranian vessels tried to block one of its oil tankers in the Gulf. Haq said the U.N. hopes all nations "will take steps to avoid" an escalation and confrontation....

Egypt demands Christie's halt auction of King Tut statue

Jul 8, 2020

CAIRO — Egypt has tried to halt the auction of a 3,000-year-old stone sculpture of the famed boy pharaoh Tutankhamun at Christie's in London, while the auction house said its sale was legal. The statue — a brown quartzite head depicting King Tut — is scheduled to be auctioned off in July, and could generate more than $5 million, according to Christie's. The artifact features King Tut's full mouth with slightly drooping lower lips and almond-shaped eyes. For many, King Tut is the ultimate symbol of ancient Egypt's glory. Howard Carter discovered the pharaoh's nearly intact tomb in 1922 in...
