Treasure Cay, Abaco, for the first time ever, Abaco Tours and Activities presents the Bahamas Blue Marlin Cup. The BBMC marks a new beginning for tournament fishing in the Bahamas.

No other tournament in the Bahamas allows fisherman to fish anywhere for 9 hours, inboard or outboard for three days where the winner takes all. Each fishing team has the luxury of choosing an Island with recommended marinas at their preference to fish from. The entry fee is $4000 per boat and the optional additional $8000 Marlin Grander CHALLENGE is for those who want to win an even bigger award.

On May 4th, 5th & 6th of 2020 make sure your team is ready to win hundreds of thousands of dollars, not to mention bragging rights for having caught the biggest blue marlin while competing against some of the top sport fishing teams around the Bahamas. The ultimate bragging rights will go to the winning team for taking the title of the first ever BBMC tournament. The BBMC will feature a host marina for those fishing from the Abaco’s at Treasure Cay Marina. Treasure Cay is well known for it record breaking big blue marlin.

Jery Brutus, the man behind the idea for the BBMC had this to say about the tournament, “Hooking up with a large Blue Marlin is a feeling like none other, ask any long time angler. With this tournament I wanted to accomplish two things: creating a unique, one of a kind tournament that anglers would be thrilled to compete in, and also attract more people to visit the Bahamas, my beautiful home I wish to share with the world!”

Abaco Tours and Activities boasts a wide range of fun and educational activities for the fishermen (and women) who want to bring their families and turn competing in the tournament into a vacation for the family. Come and enjoy a visit to the world famous Swimming Pigs of the Bahamas, or enjoy some of the most beautiful diving and snorkeling in the world.

Make sure the BBMC is on your calendar!!

Soleimani, a general who became Iran icon by targeting US

Feb 26, 2020

TEHRAN, Iran — For Iranians whose icons since the Islamic Revolution have been stern-faced clergy, Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani widely represented a figure of national resilience in the face of four decades of U.S. pressure. For the U.S. and Israel, he was a shadowy figure in command of Iran's proxy forces, responsible for fighters in Syria backing President Bashar Assad and for the deaths of American troops in Iraq. Solemani survived the horror of Iran’s long war in the 1980s with Iraq to take control of the Revolutionary Guard’s elite Quds Force, responsible for the Islamic Republic’s foreign campaigns. Muslim hajj pilgrims ascend Mount Arafat for day of worship

Feb 26, 2020

MOUNT ARAFAT, Saudi Arabia — More than 2 million Muslims are gathered at the sacred hill of Mount Arafat in Saudi Arabia for an intense day of worship and reflection on what's considered the climax of the Islamic hajj pilgrimage. Some had tears streaming down their faces as the men, wearing simple white garments, and women raised their hands in worship on the slopes of the rocky hill. Many walked through the pre-dawn darkness early Saturday to the hill where the Prophet Muhammad delivered his final sermon some 1,400 years ago, calling for equality and unity among Muslims. One of...

Saudi changes allow women to travel without male consent

Feb 26, 2020

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Saudi Arabia published new laws early Friday that loosen restrictions on women by allowing any citizen to apply for a passport and travel freely, ending a long-standing guardianship policy that gave men control over women. The changes are a potential game-changer for Saudi women's rights in the kingdom. The legal system has long been criticized because it treated women as minors throughout their adult lives, requiring they have a man's consent to obtain a passport or travel abroad. Often a woman's male guardian is her father or husband, and in some cases a woman's own...

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — The Latest on the tensions between the United States and Iran (all times local): 10:45 p.m. U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is again calling for "maximum restraint" in the Persian Gulf region and warning all parties that a new confrontation "would be a catastrophe." U.N. deputy spokesman Farhan Haq reiterated the U.N. chief's plea to avoid any escalation when asked Thursday for Guterres' reaction to Britain saying Iranian vessels tried to block one of its oil tankers in the Gulf. Haq said the U.N. hopes all nations "will take steps to avoid" an escalation and confrontation....

Egypt demands Christie's halt auction of King Tut statue

Feb 26, 2020

CAIRO — Egypt has tried to halt the auction of a 3,000-year-old stone sculpture of the famed boy pharaoh Tutankhamun at Christie's in London, while the auction house said its sale was legal. The statue — a brown quartzite head depicting King Tut — is scheduled to be auctioned off in July, and could generate more than $5 million, according to Christie's. The artifact features King Tut's full mouth with slightly drooping lower lips and almond-shaped eyes. For many, King Tut is the ultimate symbol of ancient Egypt's glory. Howard Carter discovered the pharaoh's nearly intact tomb in 1922 in...
